Malvern has announced it will host a new webinar discussing the difference between rheometers and viscometer to help viewers decide which of the two is most suitable for their application.

As the name implies, a viscometer is an instrument used to measure the viscosity of a fluid. They are available in a variety of different shapes and sizes, ranging from simple inexpensive flow cups to more expensive rotational instruments.

In this webinar, Malvern will discuss some of the key differences between viscometers and rheometers and highlight the advantages of rheological testing over basic viscosity testing.

The webinar will take place on 20 April from 10:30am until 11:30am GMT (Eastern [US and Canada].

Speaker Dr John Duffy is Malvern Instrument’s marketing manager for the advanced materials sector and is based at the company’s headquarters in the UK. He has a PhD from the University of Nottingham where his research in the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering involved studying the microstructure of molten coal, in particular its rheology, as it undergoes carbonisation. John received the Vernon Harrison award in 2009 from the British Society of Rheology for this work. This is an annual award based on the most distinguished PhD thesis on the subject of rheology. Previously, he worked with both Boots and Unilever and has wide experience in many different sectors and applications.

Who should attend?

Primarily viscometer uses who would like to know more about the advantages of owning a rheometer.

Viewers will learn about how a rheometer differs from a viscometer and the additional information it can give.

You should attend to understand differences between a rheometer and viscometer to help determine the most suitable system for your application.
