Canada’s pharma industry registered a 9.1% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 1.34% in August 2021 when compared with July 2021.
Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.91% share in August 2021, recording an increase of 0.07% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 95.37% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry in August 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 39.81% in August 2021, registering a 24.56% decline over the previous month.
2) Computer and Information Research Scientists claimed a 19.44% share, an increase of 133.33% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 15.74%, registering a 15% decline from July 2021.
4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 12.04%, down 69.77% over the previous month.
Top five pharma companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 23.71% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry during August 2021 over July 2021.
ICON posted 23 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a rise of 53.33% over the previous month, followed by Amgen with 20 jobs and a 122.22% growth. Alberta Health Services with 12 IT jobs and Apotex with 10 jobs, recorded a 29.41% decline and a 150% flat growth, respectively, while Bausch Health Companies recorded a decline of 82.69% with 9 job postings during August 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 48.15%, down by 50.48% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 39.81% share, registered an increase of 65.38% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 10.19% share, up 37.5% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.85%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
