What is Safety?
The Safety category includes companies and institutions that have demonstrated best practice in health and safety including compliance to standards and any initiatives taken to improve workplace safety through the introduction of new guidelines, policies or equipment.
It also includes projects and initiatives by companies to improve health and safety in other public environments other than their own workspaces.
Themes
Trends in drug safety and government regulation include ascertaining the safety profiles of different formulations of COVID drugs, be they oral, injectable or nasal. Vaccine safety has been particularly important when it comes to vulnerable sections of the population like children, the elderly and pregnant women.
The nature of the pandemic has meant that a lot of drugs and vaccines for the virus have been given emergency use status until further research can be done, though some vaccines have received full approval too. Due to the limited availability of vaccines in the global south, government regulators in these countries have been particularly keen to approve new candidates.
