Technology company VirTrial has partnered with the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) to provide a training and certificate programme to all domestic and abroad members of ACRP.

The programme helps clinical research professionals to prepare for hybrid decentralised clinical trials (DCT) that include a combination of virtual and in-person visits.

VirTrial CEO Mark Hanley said: “As a dedicated partner of ACRP, VirTrial is committed to supporting clinical research professionals and site sustainability.

“We are turning the threat of site-less trials into an opportunity by embracing technology and providing training for clinical researchers on how to use it to their advantage. Our target goal is to train 30,000 members and 9,000 sites on virtual trials.”

The new training and certificate programme consists of four brief modules that clinical research professionals must complete to obtain a certificate from VirTrial under the name ‘Virtual Trial Capable.’

Participants of the programme will then receive a Virtual Trial Capable certificate and badge used across sites to notify sponsors and contract research organisations (CROs).

ACRP executive director Jim Kremidas said: “Most future protocols will include a telemedicine component and we want to help ensure our members are prepared to handle that.

“I’m thrilled VirTrial is stepping up to provide this valuable training to our members who are searching for ways to prepare for the transition to using telemedicine in clinical research.”

Last week, the company announced a similar programme to help research sites get ready for hybrid clinical trials, which also include a combination of virtual and in-person visits.

The programme was offered for free to all Society for Clinical Research Sites (SCRS) member sites.
