Massive Bio has partnered with FOMAT to pilot AI-based prescreening for oncology clinical trials across a community-focused research network in the US.
Launches last month, the partnership aims to test the integration of Massive Bio’s AI platform into FOMAT’s physician network to identify potential clinical trial eligibility among cancer patients.

It addresses a key challenge in cancer research, where many eligible patients do not enrol in clinical trials due to a fragmented and delayed connection between patients and ongoing studies.
The prescreening process involves the use of AI to analyse patient profiles and identify possible matches for available trials before a full eligibility review.
This method is expected to both reduce burdens for patients and trial sites while supporting a more rapid route to trial enrolment.
FOMAT is said to be the largest embedded research organisation in the US following its acquisition of Topography Health’s research site business unit in May 2026.
It operates more than 40 investigator sites across California, Colorado, Maryland, Michigan, New Mexico, and North Carolina.
The company integrates clinical research into standard care within community settings and reports that 91% of its trial recruitment is driven by its community partner network. The pilot with Massive Bio will test how AI-driven prescreening can function within this model before a possible broader roll-out.

Massive Bio’s AI platform has to date facilitated more than 19,000 trial matches and is listed in the CMS Medicare App Library, potentially connecting with over 68 million Medicare beneficiaries.
The timing for further expansion of the pre-screening initiative will depend on the outcomes of the pilot phase, as both companies continue to review patient reach and project findings.
Last month, Massive Bio and Optellum formed a partnership to integrate early detection of non-small cell lung cancer with access to clinical trials.
