Massive Bio and Optellum have formed a partnership to integrate early detection of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with access to clinical trials.
The collaboration integrates Optellum’s Lung Cancer Prediction (LCP) AI solution with Massive Bio’s AI-driven clinical trial matching technology.

Optellum analyses radiology findings and computed tomography (CT) scans to identify patients with high-risk lung nodules.
The collaboration enables clinicians to receive timely information about relevant clinical trials for patients flagged as higher risk, often before a formal cancer diagnosis.
Under the agreement, when Optellum identifies higher-risk cases, Massive Bio reviews the de-identified patient profiles and matches them to appropriate, geographically accessible NSCLC clinical trials.
Subsequent actionable reports are sent directly to the physicians treating the patients.
This workflow aims to safeguard patient privacy and keep patient review, referral and trial participation within the control of physicians and participating sites, without requiring additional effort from sites, patients or physicians.
Massive Bio chief medical AI officer Arturo Loaiza-Bonilla said: “For the first time, we can close the loop between a high-risk CT finding and a relevant clinical trial referral – in real time, and at scale.
“NSCLC patients flagged by Optellum’s LCP AI are some of the most time-sensitive candidates for clinical research: they’ve been identified early, before the window for curative-intent options closes.
“Our collaboration ensures that their physicians receive the right trial information, in the right geography, at exactly the right moment in the care journey.”
Massive Bio operates in more than 17 countries and specialises in AI-driven precision oncology and clinical trial enrolment while Optellum has developed a US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-cleared clinical decision support tool for early-stage lung cancer.
Last month, Massive Bio signed a strategic partnership with Just Worldwide to connect more cancer patients to clinical studies.
