Asia-Pacific witnessed a 4.1% drop in IT hiring activity in the pharma industry in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
August 2021 has seen a decrease of 3.68% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 5.05% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2021, registering an increase of 0.02% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 66.55% in August 2021, a 12.25% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 13.68% in August 2021, marking a 22.73% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 10.3% in August 2021, a 41.86% rise from July 2021.
Computer and Information Research Scientists registered a share of 5.24% in August 2021, a 27.91% decline over the previous month.
Top five pharma companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 66.94% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s pharma industry during August 2021 over previous month.
Ministry of Health New South Wales posted 46 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered an increase of 21.05% over the previous month, followed by Sanofi with 42 jobs and a 366.67% growth. Eli Lilly and with 42 IT jobs and Parexel International with 37 jobs, recorded a 366.67% rise and a 19.35% rise, respectively, while F. Hoffmann-La Roche recorded a 2.94% increase with 35 job postings during August 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s pharma industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s pharma industry IT hiring activity with a 56.25% share in August 2021, a 16.84% increase over July 2021. China featured next with a 17.06% share, up 1% over the previous month. Australia recorded a 9.8% share, a growth of 23.4% compared with July 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 65.88%, up by 10.17% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 25.17% share, registered a growth of 4.93% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 8.78% share, up 18.18% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.17%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
