Canada pharma industry registered a 6.7% decline in IT hiring activity in April 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.

The industry’s overall hiring an increased by 6.5% in April 2021 compared with March 2021.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.4% share in April 2021, recording decrease of 0.06% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in April 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 104.76% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada pharma industry in April 2021.

1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 31.75% in April 2021, a 31.03% drop over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 31.75% share, decline of 44.44% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 17.46%, registering a 15.38% decline from March 2021.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 14.29%, down 10% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in Canada IT recruitment activity in April 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 14.89% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada pharma industry during April 2021 over March 2021.

Alberta Health Services posted 18 IT jobs in April 2021 and registered a rise of 20% over the previous month, followed by AbbVie with 6 jobs and a 5flat growth. Penticton Regional Hospital with 6 IT jobs and AbCellera Biologics with 5 jobs, recorded a 14.29% drop and a 70.59% decline, respectively, while F. Hoffmann-La Roche recorded a 25% an increase with 5 job postings during April 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 84.13%, down by 11.67% from March 2021. Mid Level positions with a 14.29% share, a decline of 59.09% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 1.59% share, down 90.91% over March 2021.
