Canada pharma industry registered a 7.8% decline in IT hiring activity in June 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.

The industry’s overall hiring decreased by 0.54% in June 2021 compared with May 2021.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.59% share in June 2021, recording decrease of 0.04% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in June 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.88% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada pharma industry in June 2021.

1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 34.83% in June 2021, an 11.43% drop over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 30.34% share, an increase of 28.57% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 14.61%, registering a flat growth from May 2021.

4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 12.36%, down 50% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in Canada IT recruitment activity in June 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 36.62% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada pharma industry during June 2021 over May 2021.

Alberta Health Services posted 19 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a rise of 72.73% over the previous month, followed by ICON with 10 jobs and a 54.55% drop. Penticton Regional Hospital with 6 IT jobs and McKesson with 6 jobs, recorded an 80% drop and a 20% increase, respectively, while F. Hoffmann-La Roche recorded a 33.33% an increase with 4 job postings during June 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 55.06%, down by 12.5% from May 2021. Mid Level positions with a 32.58% share, a growth of 7.41% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.24% share, down 50% over May 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.12%, recording a month-on-month an flat growth.
