The UK pharma industry registered a 2.3% decline in IT hiring activity in April 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
The industry’s overall hiring an increased by 5.31% in April 2021 compared with March 2021.
Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.61% share in April 2021, recording decrease of 0.79% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the UK pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in April 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.58% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK pharma industry in April 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 62.1% in April 2021, a 63.83% growth over the previous month.
2) Computer and Information Research Scientists claimed a 12.1% share, an increase of 200% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 10.48%, registering a 23.53% decline from March 2021.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 6.45%, down 65.22% over the previous month.
Top five pharma companies in the UK IT recruitment activity in April 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 7.14% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK pharma industry during April 2021 over March 2021.
AstraZeneca posted 17 IT jobs in April 2021 and registered a drop of 5.56% over the previous month, followed by HCA Healthcare with 14 jobs and a 36.36% drop. Bayer with 14 IT jobs and GlaxoSmithKline with 8 jobs, recorded a flat growth and an 11.11% decline, respectively, while PRA Health Sciences recorded a flat growth with 7 job postings during April 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 73.39%, up by 37.88% from March 2021. Mid Level positions with a 20.16% share, a growth of 19.05% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 4.84% share, down 45.45% over March 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.61%, recording a month-on-month an increase of 0%.
