The UK’s pharma industry registered an 18.7% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring a decreased by 12.9% in August 2021 when compared with July 2021.
Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.73% share in August 2021, recording a decrease of 0.31% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the UK’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 94.74% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s pharma industry in August 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 48.25% in August 2021, registering a 51.33% decline over the previous month.
2) Computer Support Specialists claimed a 19.3% share, an increase of 633.33% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 12.28%, registering a 26.32% decline from July 2021.
4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 7.89%, down 40% over the previous month.
Top five pharma companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 41.75% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s pharma industry during August 2021 over July 2021.
Bausch Health Companies posted 14 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a drop of 75% over the previous month, followed by AstraZeneca with 13 jobs and a 59.38% drop. Parexel International with 12 IT jobs and Bayer with 11 jobs, recorded a 200% flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Almac Group recorded a flat growth with 10 job postings during August 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 38.6%, down by 53.19% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 31.58% share, registered a decline of 16.28% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 27.19% share, up 72.22% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 2.63%, recording a month-on-month decline of 66.67%.
