Asia-Pacific witnessed a 6.9% drop in IT hiring activity in the pharma industry in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
October 2022 has seen a decrease of 2.3% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.04% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2022, registering a decrease of 0.9% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 40.42% in October 2022, a 16.15% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 26.65% in October 2022, marking a 6.32% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 15.87% in October 2022, a 13.11% drop from September 2022.
Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 13.17% in October 2022, a flat growth over the previous month.
Top five pharma companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 8.84% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s pharma industry during October 2022 over previous month.
AstraZeneca posted 52 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered an increase of 20.93% over the previous month, followed by Ministry of Health, New South Wales, Australia with 31 jobs and a 29.17% growth. Parexel International with 21 IT jobs and Merck with 16 jobs, recorded a 4.55% drop and a 51.52% drop, respectively, while Novo Nordisk recorded a 44% decline with 14 job postings during October 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s pharma industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s pharma industry IT hiring activity with a 54.79% share in October 2022, a 27.38% decrease over September 2022. Australia featured next with a 19.46% share, up 38.3% over the previous month. China recorded a 9.88% share, a flat growth compared with September 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 55.99%, down by 19.74% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 27.54% share, registered a decline of 9.8% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 15.27% share, up 21.43% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.2%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
