Asia-Pacific witnessed a 7.5% drop in IT hiring activity in the pharma industry in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
June 2022 has seen a decrease of 4.89% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.56% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2022, registering an increase of 0.06% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in June 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 50.86% in June 2022, a 6.67% rise over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 16.63% in June 2022, marking a 21.84% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 15.4% in June 2022, a flat growth from May 2022.
Database and Network Administrators and Architects registered a share of 13.94% in June 2022, a 32.14% decline over the previous month.
Top five pharma companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 5.15% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s pharma industry during June 2022 over previous month.
AstraZeneca posted 66 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a decline of 19.51% over the previous month, followed by Johnson & Johnson with 34 jobs and a 209.09% growth. Bayer with 29 IT jobs and GSK with 28 jobs, recorded a 3.57% rise and a 36.36% drop, respectively, while Parexel International recorded a 6.9% decline with 27 job postings during June 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s pharma industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s pharma industry IT hiring activity with a 62.35% share in June 2022, a 10.21% decrease over May 2022. China featured next with a 13.69% share, down 3.45% over the previous month. Australia recorded an 8.07% share, a drop of 38.89% compared with May 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 57.21%, down by 9.65% from May 2022. Mid Level positions with a 28.36% share, registered a growth of 3.57% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.54% share, up 11.43% over May 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 4.89%, recording a month-on-month decline of 52.38%.
