Canada’s pharma industry registered a 4.5% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 4.78% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.
Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.52% share in August 2022, recording a decrease of 0.2% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s pharma industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry in August 2022.
1) Computer and Information Analysts recorded a share of 27.85% in August 2022, registering a 42.11% decline over the previous month.
2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 24.05% share, a decrease of 34.48% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 18.99%, registering a 36.36% rise from July 2022.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 15.19%, up 50% over the previous month.
Top five pharma companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 10.42% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s pharma industry during August 2022 over July 2022.
Alberta Health Services posted 32 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a drop of 17.95% over the previous month, followed by Vancouver Coastal Health with 6 jobs and a 200% growth. Johnson & Johnson with 5 IT jobs and F. Hoffmann-La Roche with 5 jobs, recorded a 150% growth and a 150% growth, respectively, while McKesson recorded an increase of 66.67% with 5 job postings during August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 67.09%, down by 11.67% from July 2022. Entry Level positions with an 18.99% share, registered an increase of 25% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 12.66% share, down 50% over July 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.27%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
