India’s pharma industry registered a 7.7% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 3.35% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.

Out of the pharma industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 13.48% share in August 2022, recording a decrease of 1.19% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 51.82% in August 2022, registering a 7.19% decline over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 24.09% share, an increase of 1.54% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 10.22%, registering a 3.45% decline from July 2022.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 9.85%, down 22.86% over the previous month.

Top five pharma companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 50.43% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s pharma industry during August 2022 over July 2022.

Merck posted 52 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a rise of 126.09% over the previous month, followed by Eurofins Scientific with 50 jobs and a 138.1% growth. AstraZeneca with 28 IT jobs and Novo Nordisk with 24 jobs, recorded a 44% decline and a 33.33% growth, respectively, while Pfizer recorded an increase of 533.33% with 19 job postings during August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 42.7%, down by 17.02% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 42.34% share, registered an increase of 5.45% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 14.96% share, up 20.59% over July 2022.
