Lymphoma accounts for 9.9% share of global Oncology clinical trial activity in 2021

Lymphoma accounted for a 9.9% share of the global clinical trials within the Oncology therapy area in 2021, registering a decrease of 0.3% when compared with the last ten-year average of 10.2% share, according to GlobalData.

Non-industry sponsored trials outnumber industry sponsored trials for Lymphoma

Industry sponsored trials held a 43.0% share of all the clinical trials for Lymphoma indication in 2021, registering an increase of 4.1% when compared with the ten-year average of 38.9%. Non-industry sponsored trials accounted for a 57.0% share in 2021, marking a decrease of 4.1% over the ten-year average of 61.1%.

Top regions of industry sponsored Lymphoma trials

Asia-Pacific was the top region for industry sponsored Lymphoma trials, accounting for a 70.7% share in 2021, when compared with the five-year average of 58.1% and ten-year average of 46.7%.

North America was at the second position with a 41.7% share in 2021, over the five-year average of 52.3% and ten-year average of 61.2%, followed by Europe with a 23.6% share in 2021, as against five-year and ten-year averages of 33.5% and 39.9% respectively.

Middle East and Africa stood fourth with a 7.0% share in 2021, compared with the five-year average of 5.2% and ten-year average of 7.7%, followed by South and Central America with a 3.3% share in 2021, over five-year and ten-year averages of 3.3% and 5.4% respectively.

China was the top country for industry sponsored Lymphoma trials, accounting for a 46.7% share in 2021, as against the five-year average of 33.0% and ten-year average of 20.5%.

The US held a 41.7% share in 2021, over the five-year average of 51.8% and ten-year average of 59.5%, followed by Spain with a 16.1% share in 2021, compared with the five-year and ten-year averages of 20.0% and 20.4% respectively.

Australia held a 14.9% share in 2021, as against the five-year average of 13.0% and ten-year average of 14.1%.

France held a 14.9% share in 2021, over the five-year and ten-year averages of 17.7% and 22.0% respectively.

The US held a 25.0% share in 2021, over the five-year average of 38.6% and ten-year average of 43.4%, followed by France with a 3.4% share, compared with the five-year and ten-year averages of 3.5% and 4.7% respectively.

Australia held a 3.4% share in 2021, as against the five-year average of 2.0% and ten-year average of 2.2%.

Germany held a 3.1% share in 2021, over the five-year average of 2.8% and ten-year average of 2.8%.

Phase I trials held a 48.4% share of industry sponsored clinical trials for Lymphoma in 2021, over the five-year average of 45.2% and ten-year average of 44.5%.

Phase II trials held a 38.9% share in 2021, as against the five-year average of 40.5% and ten-year average of 39.1%. Phase III trials held an 8.0% share in 2021, compared with the five-year and ten-year averages of 9.5% and 11.4% respectively.

Phase IV trials held a 4.7% share in 2021, over the five-year average of 4.8% and ten-year average of 5.0%.

Phase II trials held a 59.7% share of non-industry sponsored clinical trials for Lymphoma in 2021, over the five-year average of 58.8% and ten-year average of 63.4%.
