Headlands Research has acquired Puerto Rico’s clinical research site, CMRCenter (CMRC), for an undisclosed sum.
This strategic move broadens Headlands’ reach to 22 locations covering Canada, the US, and Puerto Rico, and provides biopharma sponsors with a streamlined approach to the Hispanic patient populations regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

It also helps in expediting the enrolment process for central nervous system (CNS), vaccine, as well as specialty trials.
Founded and spearheaded by CEO Carmen Navarro, CMRC is backed by its team of investigators, including Dr Carmen Deseda, and joins clinical expertise with public health knowledge.
With a database of more than 10,000 participants, the site claims to have surpassed enrolment targets for paediatric and adult Phase II–IV trials while maintaining a 90% retention rate across various therapeutic areas like early Alzheimer’s disease, vaccines, migraine, rheumatology, among others.
The integration of CMRC’s local insights and performance with Headlands’ centralised quality systems and technology investments aims to enhance the site’s capabilities.
