US-based clinical research software providers IgniteData and RealTime eClinical Solutions have announced a partnership to connect their systems and automate clinical trial data transfers.

Under the agreement, clinical research sites using RealTime’s electronic source data (eSource) application will gain expanded access to IgniteData’s Archer platform.

This will allow clinical records of any type to transfer directly into a trial sponsor’s electronic data capture system or chosen destination.

Direct data transfers are intended to reduce the hours research organisations spend acquiring and monitoring trial records.

By decreasing administrative expenses and study timelines, the integration aims to allow site personnel to dedicate more time to patient-centred tasks.

For trial sponsors, the arrangement is designed to shorten clinical development timelines, freeing trial budgets for operational activities and potentially reducing the time required to achieve commercialisation.

RealTime eClinical Solutions CEO Jeff Kozloff said: “Our sites capture data once, electronically, at the source. They shouldn’t have to re-enter it into every sponsor’s EDC.

“With Archer, data flows from RealTime eSource directly to the sponsor’s system of choice, so coordinators spend less time on transcription and queries and more time with patients.”

IgniteData designed Archer to function across all data collection tools currently used by clinical sites and sponsors.

The company works with 80% of US National Cancer Institute-designated cancer centres, with 19 of the country’s top 30 facilities.

Internationally, its network spans 11 institutions across six countries and four continents, maintaining a 100% partner retention rate.

RealTime supports over 3,000 clinical trial sites across more than 30 countries.

The provider’s Site Operations Management System combines analytics, clinical trial management system (CTMS), Devana, electronic regulatory/electronic investigator site file (eReg/eISF), eSource, participant engagement, and payments to serve academic medical centres, contract research organisations, health networks, and sponsors.

Last year, IgniteData announced a partnership with AstraZeneca and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) to launch its Archer tool, which automates electronic health record (EHR)-to-electronic data capture (EDC) in a Phase III trial at MSK.
