At the 14th Annual Outsourcing in Clinical Trials (OCT) and Clinical Trial Supply (CTS) Nordics conference, which will be held on 20 and 21 October in Copenhagen, Denmark, experts will gather to discuss the challenges and opportunities presented by the ever-shifting global clinical trials landscape, while diving into how sponsors can fortify their operations and supply chains to thrive in the face of adversity.
During the conference, which will be held at the Clarion Hotel in Copenhagen, there will be a strong focus on resilience – a theme that is as crucial as ever as players remain set on scaling.
With this in mind, experts at the conference will home in on resilience from several angles – including from the supply chain side, which is at risk of disruption due to extreme weather, wars, shipping lane closures and other factors. In a talk on day one, Ivan Vyshnyvetskyy, managing director for Ukraine, FutureMeds homes in on how clinical trial operations can continue in the face of war and infrastructure disruption – applying lessons from Ukraine to improve resilience and contingency planning.
On day two, GlobalData senior analyst Wafaa Hassan will also dive into the best strategies for site selection by examining the driving forces of site selection, such as finances, talent, internal resources, investigator interests and competing studies at sites.
Resilience is nothing without patient centricity
While resilience will be a key overarching area of discussion at OCT & CTS Nordics 2026, there will also be a sharp focus on the foundation that holds the clinical trials sector up: the patients.
As patient centricity remains a key theme within healthcare, speakers will examine how best trial operators can improve the patient experience in clinical trials. There will be several talks on this topic, with Alexander Debets, former lead of clinical supply innovation at MSD, discussing how smart packaging, digital reminders and real-time monitoring can benefit patients on day one. Meanwhile, Roel van der Heijde, facilitator & trainer at the Patient Experience Association The Netherlands, will hold a workshop on day two focused on tailoring communication based on patient personalities.
Liselotte Wesley Andersen, chair of Rare Disease Denmark, will also shift the attention to rare diseases, which will see her dissect real-world data to uncover practical barriers faced by the community and how they can be overcome to put patient needs first.
