Why ISO 9001 is Important and How Does it Relate to Translation? (Part1)

ISO 9001 is the international standard for quality management systems (QMS). It is the most widely used QMS standard in the world, with over 1.1 million certificates issued to organizations in 178 countries.

ISO 9001 provides a framework and set of principles that gives a common approach to managing your organization so that you will be able to meet customer and other stakeholders’ needs on an ongoing basis. In simple words, it provides the basis for efficient processes and efficient people in order to provide an effective product or service over time.

It can be used by any organization, large or small, regardless of its field of activity.

Although not only a translation company may have ISO 9001 it does prove that the company operates via well-documented processes having an approved Quality Management System which will be partially revealed below.
