Caltag Medsystems specialises in procuring haematopoietic cells collected from healthy and diseased donors. Its suppliers are able to isolate and purify haematopoietic cells from a variety of tissues, including peripheral blood, mobilised peripheral blood, bone marrow and cord blood.

Peripheral blood consists of the cellular components of blood such as red blood cells (erythrocytes), white blood cells (lymphocytes) and platelets, which are found within the circulating pool of blood flowing throughout the body and not sequestered within the lymphatic system, spleen, liver or bone marrow.

Caltag Medsystem’s peripheral blood isolated cells are isolated from lymphocyte-enriched samples collected through apheresis where approximately three blood volumes are processed using an apheresis machine and between 50ml and 150ml of autologous plasma is collected at the same time as the mononuclear cells.

Caltag Medsystems can source CD34+ and CD133+ stem cells from healthy donors, as well as donors with certain autoimmune and haematological cancers.

Mobilised peripheral blood contains a much larger percentage of CD34+ cells than non-mobilised peripheral blood. Mobilisation involves a series of injections of G-CSF or one injection of Mozobil to the donor. This allows the donors to secrete the rich lymphocyte cell populations found in the bone marrow into the bloodstream. A Leukapheresis collection is then performed and CD34+ cells isolated.

Caltag Medsystems offers CD34+ and CD133+ stem cells from healthy mobilised donors.

Bone Marrow contains haematopoietic stem/progenitor cells, which have the potential to self-renew, proliferate and differentiate into multi-lineage blood cells. Multi-potent, non-haematopoietic stem cells such as mesenchymal stem cells can be isolated as well. These non-haematopoietic, mesenchymal stem cells are capable of both self-renewal and differentiation into bone, cartilage, muscle, tendons and fat.

Caltag Medsystems has access to CD34+ cells from healthy and diseased bone marrow donors, in particular donors with haematological cancers.

The company’s suppliers are able to obtain cord blood on a weekly basis to meet any custom needs or high project demands. Cord blood is collected at the time of delivery in a standard blood bag containing citrate-phosphate-dextrose (CPD) as the standard anticoagulant. Isolated cells are then processed within 24 hours of collection.

Caltag Medsystems offers CD34+ stem cells from single donors or pooled healthy donors.
