Caltag Medsystems can provide Mesechymal stem cells (MSC) from a variety of sources.

MSCs are multipotent stromal cells that can differentiate into a variety of cell types, including osteoblasts (bone cells), chondrocytes (cartilage cells), myocytes (muscle cells) and adipocytes (fat cells). Bone Marrow is the primary source for MSCs and these are sometimes referred to as bone marrow stromal stem cells. However, there are alternate sources for MSCs including cord blood and cord tissue (Wharton’s Jelly), adipose tissue, molar cells and amniotic fluid.

Through Caltag Medsystems’ network of suppliers, it has access to adipose-derived MSCs, liver-derived MSCs, pulmonary-derived MSCs, umbilical cord-derived MSCs, bone marrow-derived MSCs, and wharton’s jelly-derived MSCs in frozen formats.

To grow MSCs, Caltag Medsystems offers StemBioSys’ CellVo Matrices. The CELLvo matrix provides a native three-dimensional microenvironment, which can be used for rapid expansion of high-quality mesenchymal stem cells. It is the only stem cell substrate to closely mimic the full biochemical and structural microenvironment that stem cells normally see in their native environment.

Stem cells grown in the CELLvo matrix remain small, proliferative and undifferentiated. Using this unique technology, the isolation and growth of stem cells, from a variety of sources including adipose, bone marrow and umbilical cord blood/tissue is possible. Multiple studies have shown that culture using the CELLvo matrix plates results in a greater quantity of usable stem cells, with a better attachment and a higher quality and motility, when compared to cells grown on tissue culture-treated plastic.
