Europe witnessed a 6.5% rise in IT hiring activity in the pharma industry in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
July 2021 has seen an increase of 0.69% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.49% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2021, registering an increase of 0.43% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 51.43% in July 2021, a 10.46% growth over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 20.63% in July 2021, marking a 42.57% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Research Scientists with a share of 9.74% in July 2021, a 78.95% growth from June 2021.
Database and Network Administrators and Architects registered a share of 8.74% in July 2021, a 12.86% decline over the previous month.
Top five pharma companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 66.48% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s pharma industry during July 2021 over previous month.
Bausch Health Companies posted 110 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered an increase of 197.3% over the previous month, followed by CompuGroup Medical SE & Co. with 61 jobs and a 3.17% drop. AstraZeneca with 52 IT jobs and F. Hoffmann-La Roche with 38 jobs, recorded a 73.33% growth and a 65.22% increase, respectively, while Bayer recorded a 42.31% an increase with 37 job postings during July 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s pharma industry
The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s pharma industry IT hiring activity with a 22.35% share in July 2021, a 50% rise over June 2021. Germany featured next with an 18.77% share, up 24.76% over the previous month. Poland recorded an 8.45% share, a drop of 21.33% compared with June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 67.34%, up by 14.36% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 19.77% share, a flat growth compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.32% share, up 17.91% over June 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.58%, recording a month-on-month growth of 83.33%.
