The global pharma industry noticed a 0.5% rise in IT hiring activity in June 2021 over the previous month, led by HCA Healthcare’s 4.82% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The pharma industry’s overall hiring activity an increased 1.96% when compared with May 2021.

Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 1.88% share of the global pharma industry’s hiring activity in June 2021, up 0.03% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of June 2021 were 1.23% lower compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 2.3% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 46.73% emerged as the top IT occupation in the pharma hiring activity in June 2021, a 2.22% decline over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in second with a share of 15.47% in June 2021, up 10.4% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Computer and Information Analysts with a 12.9% share in June 2021, an increase of 0.21% over the previous month, and Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a 12.29% share in June 2021 and drop of 7.75% over May 2021.
Top five pharma companies by recruitment activity in June 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average an increase of 4.24% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global pharma industry during June 2021 over May 2021.
HCA Healthcare posted 182 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a drop of 16.51% over the previous month, followed by CVS Health with 182 jobs and a 7.06% rise. Far East Smart Energy with 107 IT jobs and Landmark Health with 99 jobs, recorded a 17.58% an increase and a 12.5% growth, respectively, while Johnson & Johnson recorded a 34.29% growth with 94 job postings during June 2021.
Regional composition of IT hiring in pharma industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global pharma IT hiring activity in June 2021 with a 70.38% share, which marked a 5.04% drop over the previous month.
Asia-Pacific stood next with 15.05%, registering a 22.15% month-on-month an increase.Europe was the third leading region with a 13.17% share and a 14.6% decline over May 2021.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 0.9% and a month-on-month drop of 37.04%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.5%, registering a 53.66% drop over the previous month.
