Europe witnessed a 7.0% drop in IT hiring activity in the pharma industry in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
August 2022 has seen a decrease of 5.76% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.01% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2022, registering a decrease of 0.13% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 38.57% in August 2022, a 13.21% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 23.48% in August 2022, marking a 7.44% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 16.35% in August 2022, a 12.36% drop from July 2022.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 14.68% in August 2022, an 11.39% decline over the previous month.
Top five pharma companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 6.1% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s pharma industry during August 2022 over previous month.
Eurofins Scientific posted 50 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a decline of 27.54% over the previous month, followed by AstraZeneca with 38 jobs and a 40.74% growth. Bayer with 33 IT jobs and Johnson & Johnson with 28 jobs, recorded a 73.68% rise and a 6.67% drop, respectively, while F. Hoffmann-La Roche recorded a 31.58% increase with 25 job postings during August 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s pharma industry
The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s pharma industry IT hiring activity with a 21.17% share in August 2022, a 6.32% increase over July 2022. Germany featured next with a 12.37% share, up 25.53% over the previous month. Poland recorded an 11.53% share, a growth of 7.84% compared with July 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 71.7%, down by 7.57% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 15.93% share, registered a decline of 18.28% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 10.27% share, down 30% over July 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 2.1%, recording a month-on-month growth of 400%.
