The global pharma industry noticed a 14.2% rise in IT hiring activity in November 2021 over the previous month, led by Evolent Health’s 23.07% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The pharma industry’s overall hiring activity increased 2.69% when compared with October 2021.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 2.26% share of the global pharma industry’s hiring activity in November 2021, up 0.26% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of November 2021 were 11.59% higher when compared with the previous month.
The increase was a result of 19.3% lower job postings as compared to job closures during the month.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers drive pharma IT hiring activity
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 53.69% emerged as the top IT occupation in the pharma hiring activity in November 2021, a 53.59% growth over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in second with a share of 16.51% in November 2021, up 65.32% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a 13.07% share in November 2021, a growth of 16.49% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with an 8.85% share in November 2021 and a drop of 1.33% over October 2021.
Top five pharma companies by recruitment activity in November 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 231.39% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global pharma industry during November 2021 over October 2021.
Evolent Health posted 1,546 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered a rise of 10206.67% over the previous month, followed by Bausch Health Companies with 519 jobs and a 70.16% growth. F. Hoffmann-La Roche with 237 IT jobs and The Hastings Center with 221 jobs, recorded a 44.51% growth and a 52.41% rise, respectively, while CVS Health recorded a 7.65% rise with 211 job postings during November 2021.
Regional composition of IT hiring in pharma industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global pharma IT hiring activity in November 2021 with an 81.76% share, which marked a 46.08% rise over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 10.1%, registering a 2.42% month-on-month growth. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 7.04% share and a 7.27% rise over October 2021.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 0.73% and a month-on-month rise of 13.95%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.34%, registering a 27.78% increase over the previous month.
