US-based clinical research company Advarra has introduced Study Collaboration, a solution designed to expedite study startup by automating workflows.

The solution is intended to enhance partnerships between research stakeholders and improve collaboration on trials.

It uses technology from clinical trial solution provider Longboat, which has garnered more than 225,000 users since Advarra acquired it in 2020.

The solution integrates this technology with Advarra’s study startup programme and single sign-on features.

It is claimed to facilitate feasibility assessments, document exchange and enrolment planning, aiming to minimise the time between site selection and subject recruitment.

Advarra’s Study Collaboration platform is being offered to research sites by clinical trial sponsors and contract research organisations.

By providing tools such as Advarra Study Startup (SSU) and Advarra Enroll, the solution guides study teams through site activation to improve enrolment planning and tracking.

It is being supported by a multi-year technology investment focusing on improving site activation speed and compliance.

Advarra sponsor tech strategy product lead and vice-president Ashley Davidson said: “Study startup remains one of the most challenging aspects of clinical trials, and it takes time to progress through every milestone—from site identification and feasibility to ethics reviews, contract negotiations and site training.

“Manual information exchange and disconnected systems often hinder coordination and visibility, creating delays that can cascade through the clinical trial timeline.”

Study Collaboration gives study teams a centralised, real-time view of activation, as well as an overview of sites’ enrolment progress.

The system enables sites and sponsor study teams to access the entire startup workflow using their own credentials to reduce administrative burdens and improve engagement.

Based in Maryland, US, Advarra specialises in providing regulatory review solutions and clinical research technology.

In July 2022, the company introduced a cloud-based Secure Document Exchange solution as part of its Advarra eRegulatory Management (eReg) system.
