GlobalData Epidemiologist Report: Global Covid cases approach 53 million – France nears 2 million

By Paul Dennis

13 November

Globally, the total confirmed cases of Covid-19 have reached over 52,884,000 with over 1,295,000 deaths and 34,238,000 recoveries.

The US has the highest number of cases and is still trending upwards.

India has the second highest number of cases, and while trending downwards and appears to be reaching a plateau.

France has seen a need to increase testing significantly in the past weeks, resulting in their highest ever recorded number of infections, with over 129,000 confirmed on 4 November 2020 as it heads towards 2 million cases.

South Korea have maintained low numbers of daily confirmed cases and a constant level of testing, with just 143 cases reported on November 12th, 2020.

Since the pandemic began, South Korea have used a rigorous contact tracing program that includes new technologies to track contacts, such as GPS, monitoring CCTV, and card transactions.

These methods appear to have helped in controlling the number of infections, as its peak occurred in March with just 851 cases.

While South Korea’s track and trace system has been successful, is not implemented globally due to differences in privacy laws.
