Focus on Pharma: Particle Sizing – Advance Your Analysis

Taking place 6 June from 10:30-11:30 (GMT-5:00), viewers will learn how to set meaningful and realistic specifications for pharmaceutical product critical material attributes (CMA), which is important in ensuring a product meets its target performance profile.

Within this, the particle size and size distribution of the active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and excipients present within a product formulation and are often considered to be important. However, why is this the case and what guidance is available to help decide whether a method selected for particle size analysis is appropriate?

This webinar series we will consider why particle size is important for pharmaceutical products and how answering this question can lead to the specification of a realistic method.

Join this webinar by Dr Nicholas Norberg, who is an application specialist in Malvern Panalytical’s supply centre. He discusses methodologies such as near-infrared (NIR) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) in the context of stringent monitoring of low quantity respirable silica and asbestos, from as low as 0.1%.

He will be able to provide more insight on the plus points and limitations for the identification, quantification and adherence to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and International Standardisation Organisation (ISO) norms.

Keys for Successful Analysis – Standard Error Calculation with Laser Diffraction

Taking place 13 June from 10:30-11:30, this webinar will showcase Malvern Panalytical’s estimation of the minimum mass required for a particular point in the distribution (e.g. x90) for a required standard error (e.g. 1%) given the top end size of the material and its density.

In this presentation, the company will calculate the best standard error possible with a given mass of sample of known top-end size, density given a point in the distribution to be determined. The results may surprise those users with measuring small amounts of material (20mg) with a reasonable top-end size (say 200um).

Laser Diffraction Masterclass 6 – Troubleshooting: What To Do When Things Go Wrong? 

Taking place on 25 June from 10:30-11:30, this webinar will discuss what you can do if you are presented with results that are not what you expect.

Focus on Pharma: Particle Sizing – Managing Method Development 

Taking place on 27 June from 10:30-11:30, this webinar Malvern Panalytical will consider how the principles of analytical quality by design (AQbD) can be applied to the development of a particle sizing method, using the technique of laser diffraction as an example.

Starting from an understanding of why particle size analysis is performed, the company will consider how the design space for a particle sizing method can be defined. It will then consider the regulatory guidance relating to the assessment of the precision, robustness and ruggedness of the method.

Malvern Panalytical’s goal will be to provide a process for defining an appropriate method that is able to rigorously support product quality control assessments while being flexible enough to be realistically applied throughout the lifetime of a pharmaceutical product.
