Malvern has announced it will host a webinar discussing the use of a diffusion interaction parameter (kD) measurement for the Taylor dispersion analysis in early stages of development.
The self-association characteristics of molecules in dilute solutions can provide an assessment of stability in early development particularly for biopharmaceuticals. The diffusion interaction parameter (kD) measures propensity for self-association, but the determination of this parameter using existing methodologies requires several measurements over a concentration series.
In this webinar, Malvern will demonstrate how Taylor dispersion analysis can be used to generate a concentration gradient and how the kD can be extracted in a single, low-volume measurement.
Speaker Markos Trikeriotis studied chemistry at the University of Crete in Greece, where he also completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biochemistry investigating the use of inorganic materials in drug delivery applications. He then moved to Cornell University in the US as a post-doctoral associate studying the applications of metal oxide nanoparticles in lithographic nano-patterning. Markos worked for a biotechnology start-up in Cardiff and then joined the Microviscometry team at Malvern Instruments as an Applications Scientist.
The webinar is suitable for scientists or managers within the pharmaceutical industry who are:
- Involved in the development of proteins, peptides, or small molecule pharmaceuricals
- Working in early development of pre-formulation stages
- Interested in quick screening of multiple targets and formulations
- Interested in prediction of stability and developability
Viewers will learn what protein stability is and how it is emasured, how to predict stability using self-association metrics, how to measure kD using Taylor dispersion analysis, and how the Viscosizer TD is used to predict stability by measuring kD and viscosity.
The webinar will be taking place on 15 November from 10:30-11:30 (GMT-05:00).
